Re: How did we arrive at the meaning of "old" and "better" a

The problem is actually due to graphics or better due to the game engine in general. One problem is the frame update rate. UE3 has rather unstable frame-rate. This means the frame-rate bounces between a low and higher value constantly depending on your camera view. This inconsistent frame-rate puts ...

Show of hands. Who here, who has actually played the game, thinks the new leveling and experience system is fun and interesting.

Re: What are you playing?

In contrary to this though in Skyrim or Oblivion it's very static and narrow so you can't really explore/adventure as you could in the old games. Care to elaborate? Seems fine to me. In Morrowind the environment changes a lot with different locations. Cites and villages look totally different depen...

Re: What are you playing?

You have stuff like that but not in that quantity or quality. Side quests are all rather generic and uninteresting. I certainly could not remember an interesting one out of Oblivion for example but I certainly remember memorable moments and quests in Morrowind. I guess it also depends on what you ca...

Re: What are you playing?

The thing that makes me want to play Skyrim, from what I've read, is that you can go off exploring/adventuring without having to follow the story line. You could do this since the beginning. In contrary to this though in Skyrim or Oblivion it's very static and narrow so you can't really explore/adv...

Re: What are you playing?

(...) WASD keys (...) One of the problems right there. Yeah, how can ANYONE justify paying full price for HUNDREDS of hours of content and mod support for a game, that has interface that you need 30 minutes to get used to, I mean, c'mon people GET YOUR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT  How about if you d...

I liked Morrowind, but hated Oblivion, but I like Skyrim. What do you suppose about that?

Re: What are you playing?

As far as I got so far it will not be modable. But that's just one of the points on a large list of let-downs in this game. And I'm not the only one so the "you are minority" joker you can't pull out this time Jonas ;) . A lot of wasted hard-disk space. Let's hope one of the other games comes out so...

Re: TNM's geometry

How did they react to licensing? I eyed with that page too but they have a clear stance towards open-source. Now neither TNM nor my project would be open source but I'm unsure where they make the difference. After all if used in something like TNM everybody can copy the textures out of the archive f...

Re: What are you playing?

If you play Clear Sky I encourage you to play the HoH Mod (Home of Homeless). You have to look for it a bit since the makers refused to put it on ModDB for the fear of it being stolen :so: .

Re: What are you playing?

Ah okay, that one. Remember playing it. Yeah, back then their game engine could not handle large amounts of objects and such so it all went a bit bleak. Fitted in though with the intended mood. Will be interesting to see what direction they take with this new Stalker game.
