Re: Game crashes.

Crackly sound, eh? Something you might consider trying is in this post in the original "Bugs" thread in this forum section:

Re: Play time

I was surprised to find I'd spent at least 36:58:54 on the initial PDX playthrough, with 301 named saves in two directories. I remember reading a lot of text, as AgentSmithereens mentioned... Add a lot of sneaking around, then plenty of exploration (except the sewers). There were a lot of reload-las...

Re: Can't bind to native class DXOgg.DXOgg

Folks reported problems running TNM with the 2005 version of the VC++ redistributable. It might be worth a try to uninstall the 2005 version and try installing the 2008 version. For the third time: the VC++ redistributable installation logs should be in your temp directory, zsieg . You might be able...

Re: Can't bind to native class DXOgg.DXOgg

there is mention of DXOggMusicManager and tnmOggMusicManager, yet I can't find any files like this in any of my deusex or tnm folders? Am I missing something? Yes, if it were installed and configured properly, you wouldn't see "mention of DXOggMusicManager and tnmOggMusicManager". They follow the "...

Re: Cannot start TNM: "Can’t find file for package ’TNM’"

Yes, it's resolved for some. But zsieg has already been posting in that "Can't find file for package TNM - Solution!" thread, because that solution doesn't work for him. ___________ It's not what we don't know that hurts us, it's what we know that ain't so. --Paraphrase of a quote made by Will Roger...

Re: Can't bind to native class DXOgg.DXOgg

I know people have got it working on Win 98. Then they did it without that VC++ redistributable support. Perhaps there's support already in the OS, and the redistributable is only needed for later systems. That bothers me; if it isn't needed for Win98, why is it needed at all? Edit: Heh, apparently...

Re: Game Freezes

Except there's only 4 dobermans in ABI.... In his map almost every npc is an alien 1 or 2 of which are might be important. Missing out on a couple of overheard conversations is better than missing out on the entire rest of the game. (Most probably do miss these conversations, anyway, unless they fa...

Re: Critical Error: Can't bind to native class

It may be that this Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable installer does not run on Windows 9x PCs: Windows 95/98/98SE/ME. See this topic: Can't bind to native class DXOgg.DXOgg This implies that the game, if it truly depends on this update, will require Win2K or later to run. Edit: It may be that the upd...

Re: Game exits with Runaway Loop message

For the "Runaway loop" problem, I suggest using this workaround: Note the very first word in the error message. For you, odawali , it's "alien". For eenter and JC_Helios it was "TNMDoberman". For others it might be something else. Run the game with the "-hax0r" option in the command line ("Target" l...

Re: Can't bind to native class DXOgg.DXOgg

Well, I'm just saying what the redistributable's log says. That log goes on to say that it is running system checks, one of which is "Not runing on 9x check" (sic). Look for the logs in your temp file directory, zsieg -- they start with "dd_vcredist". The one I examined is the short one starting wit...

Re: Can't bind to native class DXOgg.DXOgg

I'm back to it being an installation issue; zsieg mentioned using Windows ME. There are certain flags in installers one can set (or may be assumed) to define the supported OSes. Some installers no longer support non-NT Windows (i.e., Win9x). And there's definitely a line in the VC++ redistributable'...

Re: Cannot start TNM: "Can’t find file for package ’TNM’"

My earlier comment about the installer might have some merit. There's a line in the log for the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable (the runtime support package) that says "PROPERTY SupportWin9x 0", among the list of PROPERTY lines. Another line is "PROPERTY MinNTVersion 5.0", which I believe ...

Re: Crash in Space

"MassBan"? How apropos in this virtual forum world! How about pausing the troublesome save immediately upon loading it, then bring up the command console and using "killall alien" first? Would that work just to eliminate the specific kind of alien on the level? The name "alien" might need changing. ...

Re: Terrible bug - a lot of progress lost

I went back to an old save made right before heading to the ruins, closed the threads and made a new save. That time it worked. Whatever the problem is, it seems conditional or random. But if the bug kicks in, it corrupts all subsequent saves till you head back up. Yes, there might be something inv...
