Re: 3d Studio Max used for making maps in Deus Ex?
Well other mod teams have made modern high quality games, but you're right. Deus Ex would be different since it's so long and detailed and you'd have to get enough people interested. For some reason there's not much interest in Deus Ex.

Re: 3d Studio Max used for making maps in Deus Ex?
The UDK requires almost everything to be made in Max, but you'd be better off splitting the scene into individual objects with individual materials and importing them like that. http://www.udk.com/ I know UDK is new and all, but why isn't anyone making a Deus Ex mod or recreation with it? Wouldn't ...

Re: Contributing to Our Development Process!
Ok, this month* I have A) talked to DaveW about some new textures B) got feedback from DaveW re: the latest build (there is one, you know..also, DaveW deserves props) C) spent about 8 hours of a free weekend importing, exporting, importing, exporting and modifying the assault rifle so it actually W...

Cohn's Law "The more time you spend in reporting on what you are doing, the less time you have to do anything. Stability is achieved when you spend all your time reporting on the nothing you are doing." Or they can spend 5 minutes a week making a 1 paragraph progress update post and we can wait the...

Looks like bump mapping or some other kind of lighting or shading trick, but I have no idea really. xDloony636 wrote:I still have no idea what's going on.Salk wrote:Wow, DaveW!
My eyes are not surely very trained but I can say I am impressed nonetheless! How did you reach such result?

Re: The Deus Ex Mod List
Yeah, actually there's a game with a similar concept to yours. Super Paper Mario. The difference is it switches between 3d and 2d instead of your idea of being able to view and access dimensions that are in-between the space of the dimension you're currently in. What happens when you're standing on ...

Re: The Deus Ex Mod List
No, that's not what he means at all. I'm editing this post as I come to understand his example more and more, so I just deleted some of what I wrote. I was taking the wrong parts of his example too literally and other parts not literal enough, but I get it now. Now the thing is, how would you expla...

Re: The Deus Ex Mod List
I understood it fine. I don't see why you couldn't do this, can't you just make an invisible wall you can't walk through but npcs can? My question is what would you want to use this for? Especially the way you suggest with the player being able to switch back and forth. Might as well just open compl...

Re: Getting ready for the big release!
It was locked because we already finished all the packages last week. Every single package is listed in green. DaveW was changing the package names to green as they were done. Though, yes, DaveW should edit the first post to that effect. Oh well, it's fine, at least it's done. There was really no w...

Re: Getting ready for the big release!
This is supposed to be a reply for the Call to the Community thread: Oh my god, how freakin depressing. I registered here to help and I spend hours doing all of Package 4 and I was just finishing up importing the trans textures to replace the textures they are for when I get a General Protection Fau...
