Well, thanks for the help.
My LCD monitor has an option for displaying the aspect ratio properly if I switch to a 4:3 resolution, such as 1024x768, thankfully. But I hate using a non-native resolution unless I have to.

Re: Deus Ex in widescreen - Any way to get subtitles?
I'm running retail.
Again, some subtitles work fine, such as dialogue.
However, the main thing is when the intro cutscene plays, there are no subtitles.
This is a problem in mods like Zodiac, which have a custom intro but no voice dialogue, so you can't even read what they're saying.

Re: Deus Ex in widescreen - Any way to get subtitles?
Still no idea how to fix this. I don't mean to bump my own topic or anything, since it's still on the front page, but I wonder if there's a .ini settings for the subtitles? If there is, I haven't seen it or don't know what it's called.

Re: Deus Ex in widescreen - Any way to get subtitles?
Still no good. The FOV fixes do indeed work to make the view a lot better, but cinematic subtitles are still missing. Thanks for all the help, though. I hope someone around here knows of a work-around.

Re: Deus Ex in widescreen - Any way to get subtitles?
No luck, I'm afraid.
To note, I'm running at 1366x768, which is a 16:9 resolution, if this has any bearing.

Deus Ex in widescreen - Any way to get subtitles?
I've noticed that setting Deus Ex to a widescreen resolution removes all subtitles from cinematics (though conversation subtitles remain intact.) Is there any way to get the cinematic subtitles back? I kind of need them for mods like Zodiac which don't have voice acting. I've already tried messing w...

Re: Malkavian mod
Quick request: could someone upload a clip to youtube of the scene where JC and the all-black dude are talking, and the dude says something like "We're all black!" and it cuts back to JC, who has turned black and says "So am I"? I'd really like to send it to a friend of mine, and I have no means of ...

Re: Which renderer is better? Enhanced OpenGL, or Direct3D10?
It does, thanks! I was on Mint 7, and had to go back to Win2003 for some video editing until Mint 8 is released (RSN apparently). All I could find were silly scripts and hacks that never worked, though I still played through some TNM in the glitchy game state. Is that working well with HDTP and TNM...

Re: Which renderer is better? Enhanced OpenGL, or Direct3D10?
OpenGL is my preferred one. You're on Linux, so you'll know why. DX10 was adding things like bloom IIRC, ENBSeries. How did you fix the dualcore+speedstep issues under WINE? I saw all the UT hacks, but couldn't get them working. I'm running Ubuntu 9.10. First of all, I made sure to install the late...

Which renderer is better? Enhanced OpenGL, or Direct3D10?
I just want to get a general consensus. I've been using the Enhanced OpenGL for about a year now and I love it. Are there any significant improvements that the new D3D10 renderer brings? Oh, also, I'd like to know if the D3D10 renderer would work under WINE in Linux? It's where I do most of my Deus ...

Re: Is there a way to edit the JC/Paul textures to make new...
To edit the colours of the default skins you'd have to do this yourself by exporting them (use the editor), modifying them, and ideally reimporting them into your own separate package. Then, you'd need to create a custom character class that uses those skins and import that into the package too. Th...

Re: Is there a way to edit the JC/Paul textures to make new...
This is all awesome stuff, guys. Playing as Gunther in Shifter's unrealistic mode is a blast, especially when you have to crouch through certain alcoves (I'm very impressed that the game takes character height into account!) However, I'm still on the lookout for a simple texture color edit of the de...

Re: Is there a way to edit the JC/Paul textures to make new...
Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I have to admit that I didn't know about the character model feature of Shifter's unrealistic mode. I do like Smoke's mod, but it's really not my style, plus it's incompatible with Shifter. I'm still on the lookout for some straight-up editing of the original JC tex...

Re: Is there a way to edit the JC/Paul textures to make new...
Try Shifter, I'm pretty sure it has something like this. I've been using Shifter religiously since its inception for every single Deus Ex playthrough, because I just can't imagine the game without it now. As far as I know, I've seen no option for what I've described. I mean, there's the standard ap...
