Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
Regarding Ford Schick, I didn't find his dialogue in the third visit particularly wrong, I just thought it was speculation. You do have a point that it contradicts the in game story though, and could be spoiling or foreshadowing just a bit too much. If you must remove him, just see how the aug upgra...

Re: GMDX Art Thread
Is it that hard to redo the Chinese signs properly though? You don't even need a Chinese speaker, just get your artist to make high res versions of the original signs and ditch the New Vision signs altogether. Granted that will probably put a lot of load on him, but it's still worth trying. Accordin...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
Cool! It's very fun. Can't believe people are paid to do this stuff :) Or at least back in the day anyway. Now everything is 100+ man teams tightly controlled to make sure they're not adding too much fun to the game. Pretty sure level designers still exist and get paid for making levels, as do leve...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
I think we're again entering navel gazing territory here. What made the health regen aug over powered in the original was not just the speed at which it healed you but also the incredibly efficient trade of bioenergy for health. Medkits, on the other hand, are limited even at Master level, you can o...

Deus Ex franchise on Hiatus after Poor Sales
Not sure how many of you know this already, but apparently the franchise is going to take a break after Mankind Divided failed to meet sales expectations. Full report here: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-01-30-dont-expect-another-deus-ex-game-anytime-soon Not sure what to feel about this. I ...

Re: GMDX Art Thread
The problem with making ADS use bioenergy per use is that it encourages having it on all the time. What I think would be more appropriate would be to have it warn you about projectiles even when turned off(hopefully less obnoxiously than currently) and make it have a decent detonation distance on le...

Re: Mortecha's Weapon Mod Discussion
Let me put this clearly. Mortecha didn't want interchangeable mods initially, that was suggested by you since you argued that having scopes and holo sights come from one kit would be unrealistic and would lead to expectations of being able to take them off; he happened to like that idea and was will...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
Also, I do not understand how it slows down exploration. It takes quite some effort to completely deplete stamina (not to mention that the player can invest points in improving it). This is most commonly noted in Liberty Island, where the player may not have spent any skillpoints in Athletics yet. ...

Re: Mortecha's Weapon Mod Discussion
Stealth pistol vs pistol is balanced because the stealth pistol is better in every way except damage. I hate to point this out, but this reason alone is good enough to sway people towards using the standard pistol and only using the stealth pistol as a backup for stuff like crowd control. In GMDX y...

Re: Mortecha's Weapon Mod Discussion
Another alternative is to remove the GEP guidance system altogether. Wouldn't mind that; I never found it particularly useful and it always felt more like a novelty feature taken from Invisible War. The laser guiding on the other hand, I do like, and find more useful and practical for most situatio...

Re: Mortecha's Weapon Mod Discussion
It does. It's vanilla Deus Ex mod behavior, so it doesn't require any special coding to implement either.Mortecha wrote:
This is awesome indeed. Does this also apply to non-visible mods too? So your current weapon acts as a hypothetical mod hoover?

Re: Level systems: Automated vs. Gated
That is actually also a thing that Human Revolution and Mankind Divided does: you'll recall, after each major gameplay segment in the game, you get a huge bonus if you were never spotted and another huge bonus if you never killed anyone. What fucks this up in DX's case is that you also get XP for k...

Re: Level systems: Automated vs. Gated
What I would like to know is if there's any significant advantage with using the systemic XP system. While I do understand that the gated XP system can be hard to apply to open world games, it does offer distinct advantages in the sense of player progression being better defined and controlled. I gu...

Re: Mortecha's Weapon Mod Discussion
I'm surprised I've never noticed that in all the playthroughs I've done with HDTP. And now that I have, I can't unsee it. Thanks a bunch! :p

Level systems: Automated vs. Gated
So as I was saying in the other thread before it became a shitshow, I wanted to hear opinions about the two main sorts of XP systems; the one in most games, i.e, where you kill enemies and do generic actions to earn XP regularly. which I call "automated", or the one in games like Deus Ex where you e...
