Re: Looking forward to this
Maybe it is time I moved on. I've been just another fan for a long time, and it shows in my posts the last couple years. With HDTPv1, NV, TNM, and the updated renderers, I've had more than I was looking for. Dirty secret is I barely play games anymore. I've enjoyed the forums, but it's hard to keep ...

Re: Looking forward to this
There was no problem. Even from the perspective of the quality of Alex's work, which I don't think is in question...if some non-contributing, narrow-minded, cretin on the internet having a negative opinion of a work of art constitutes "a problem", then that exudes an extreme level of arrogance....O...

Re: DX3 reviews?
Cool. How's all the renaissance-ish art? I remember cracking up with this, and it was another issue before release that I haven't heard much post-release.

Re: DX3 reviews?
Picking the wrong option in a negotiation conversation in DXHR doesn't mean you fail instantly, it reduces the person's "persuasion level", ...you don't get what you came for. Sometimes that means you miss out on optional content It reminded me of those Japanese visual-novel conversation games, jus...

Re: Looking forward to this
When you are going from character models that seem to consist of 20 polygons and a 64x64 texture to what HDTP promises to acchieve you will need some interpretation from the artists. There just isn't enough information present in the vanilla models to avoid that. So I see why for some this might di...

Re: DX3 reviews?
At least stop before the summary, I give away a very important plot development there. Aww, sorry, I had to read through it tonight. I'm wanting to buy HR, but I just can't after the fan reviews. I'll play with community mods and DLC hacked in and DRM hacked out; DX1 fans have criticisms that I'm h...

Re: I was pokemon
Legendary pokemon JAF used Thricepost! Decade-old spoiler ahead. And don't worry, if there's no interest, I forgot Quadpost. In FireRed, just waiting for sliph scope. Charizard/Pigeot/Gyrados/butterfree, with meowth and ratta for Cut&Flash and slowly wearing down uncaptured pokemon. The game is nost...

Re: Looking forward to this
I'm not sure what you mean by this. Are you saying that artists don't all draw exactly the same way?...Holy shit. Uh, yeah? Still, I did say "artistic inspiration" instead of "drew different characters" (which the discussions fixed). But I never expected so much of the audience to hate on his art. ...

Re: Looking forward to this
I agree. The contemporary games are startlingly worse graphically too. UT wasn't bad, but I played through Messiah and Anachronox. Several times, I'd lose perspective on the graphics, or wouldn't be able to figure out what something was. DX graphics range from blah to embarrassing, but I don't remem...

Re: Looking forward to this
See, now that's awesome. The original sword is a gray pointy stick, and that's a metal dragon sword. Great detail of the corners on the sword scratching and wearing. To be fairer to AlexD (now that I have a headache), he had artistic inspiration for recreating the main characters, which didn't go ov...

Re: Things TNM did better then DX:HR
Right. I called it the Sanctem, the grand secret Goat hideout. I didn't see it my first playthrough, and was surprised on another playthrough to find a colossal area I had never seen. I'm trying to remember how I first reacted to DX. I think it was that as DX is in the form games should be, then DX ...

Re: Looking forward to this
I'd like screenshots too. It would display development instead of argue it, and engage fans. I mentioned HDTP developers are hiding, and they are and they say so with "hunkering down" phrasings. I think it's trauma from when AlexD would create good work, post screenshots as HDTP without authorizatio...

Re: Good News
DX3 seemed very mass-market, with mega-marketing. There's comics and a novel and thirtytwo game editions with DLC planned plus future series iterations and a movie starring Angela Lansbury. For all the criticism, it's made to sell. Hitman has a formula, and it's playable, so I'm looking forward to p...

Re: Would you have bought DX:HR if it wasn't Deus Ex?
I'm annoyed that the target audience of DX3 isn't DX1 fans, but times change. I don't know about storyline "ramifications", but thinking hard and drunk about it, I generally find that gameplay gets in the way of a good story. I get frustrated, cheat my way through, and then hate a game because "tell...
