Re: I can't play Deus Ex any more

Okay, so in short, for it to work the conspiracy has to be massively weakened, UNATCO made more independent and free thinking and Manderley less of a dick. Yeah, that's not a massive change. I guess I just like the idea so much that I overlook all the difficulties. On the plus side, all this talking...

Re: I can't play Deus Ex any more

I agree, but then the game becomes Bureaucracy Simulator, where your job is to reform a UN institution. I agree that it would have been cool to have that second option, to go with Carter's idea of reforming a corrupt institution from the inside. Probably wouldn't have made for the ideal game, and i...

I can't play Deus Ex any more

Whenever I play it, the same thing happens. I decide that JC is going to live up to the billing that Manderley (according to Kaplan) has given him - a born-and-bred killer. He sweeps through every level annihilating enemy with total precision - generally I try and make his kills silent and undetecte...

Re: Travel Time

Somewhere between GTA4 and Far Cry 2. San Andreas exists almost solely as a study in how far you can travel before it gets boring. Some missions are fine, others are only just, others are excessive. (and yes, I'm in a broad sweeping generalisations mood at the moment, so feel free to ignore the bro...

Re: Avatar (the movie with blue aliens)

My biggest problem with the movie (and much of sci-fi) is that it broke the golden-rule of sci-fi, which is sci-fi can never, by definition, be creative unless you're a genius that is literally too crazy to be able to be coherent. Sci-fi exists as a genre by taking other genre's and sticking them in...

Re: In relation to life after death.

Yeah, it's a bit sad to think all we are ultimately is some chemicals and electrical impulses. Although I do suffer from a short-out every now and then. lol Why is it sad? Why does it change anything? I'm quite happy with the fact that I'm (basically) a bunch of chemicals and electrical impulses. T...

I'm extra sad because TSLRP is dead too, so not even decent KotOR 2.

Re: Deus Ex: Invisible War, My conclusion

Well it does actually openly state that they are fit for places that are NOT earth, and from thence onward will be continually moving onward and outward. So you know, if actual statements are not your thing I...guess you could discard it? But hey, as I said: both interpretations work, so why worry?...

Re: How close to Deus Ex is Bloodlines?

Bloodlines has a better story, Deus Ex is a better game (in the sense that its more enjoyable to just play).

Personally, I don't think A or not A is a necessary truth in the real world. Brouwer ftw.

Re: How do we feel about Deus Ex 3?

1. I'm not talking about me. I'm talking about what other people do, and people definitely seem to think that it's not cheating if you use 'remembered' codes but it is if you use open sesame or tantalus. Remove that possibility and its goneburgers - either you cheat or you find the code/hack. 2. I j...

Re: How do we feel about Deus Ex 3?

Yes, that could really be it. Deus Ex 2 failed in many aspects because it had some things the original was good about: Original had (just a few things I'm mentioning here): 1. Hackable keypads or you could type code in Computers could be hacked, or you could type code in 2. Every weapon had its own...
