AMDATI is indeed having serious trouble. They've posted Q2 losses, while Intel had substantial profits. According to Fox's data (which is an awesome find, btw) Nvidia is totally kicking ass, also. AMD's Barcelona is going to be about as successful as the R600 was, I would think... Whereas, Intel's P...

What I find very interesting is that all Nividia 8xxx-cards use the same layout and all the branders (like MSI, Sparkle, Asus etc.) do is putting a sticker on it or to overclock them sometimes. In very rare cases they use another cooling solution. The default cooler is pretty effective and silent (...

So u guys are using OGRE then. We'll see what happens. I've seen other development kits/engines around. depends on how long it takes for all of them to be of some use to me/community :D Indeed. We hope that we can use OpenFrag as the cornerstone to an opensource game development community that will...

If you want to build a community around your client-based oekaki board, you could always use Shimmie, which is totally awesome.

Also, don't ask me how I know about oekaki or imageboards.

if updating the engine to suit the needs of a newer game breaks an older game, then developers (and enthusiasts) of the older game can update their specific game assets to work better with the new engine. This is one of the many advantages of opensource game development. Heheh you mean go back to y...

It's not for showing off for christ's sake, it's just that at the moment the indicator is completely off because you haven't uploaded any. Finalize textures as you do them, don't wait until you've "done them all". There's no point whatosever. To take a quote from Linus Torvalds-- Release often, rel...

My friend says that Maya is a freaking awesome program for animating and rendering, but it sucks for modeling, so he chooses to use Luxology Modo for that aspect. These are both professional-grade programs, and are replacing the industry standard, 3ds.

Incidentally the nc6400 is the standard PC we give people who need to work from home, and it's a really nice machine. There's something about the way it feels under your fingers that made me love it instantly. But it's not meant for the type of activities you're likely to use it for, Kale. Its lack...

How are you making actual levels? The actual level is, at the moment, a 3D model. You can create this in Blender, Maya, 3DS Max, your choice. Random question: If you keep updating the engine and applying the updates to existing games, isn't there a risk that one of your updates will bugger up the a...

I'm not exactly 100% sure what you're asking, but if it's what I think you're asking... We're working on a world editor called 'Anvil' that helps to integrate all forms of content, however... It's not entirely functional yet. You can't edit content inside this editor, however; only its in-game prope...

I know you're pretty set on the webcam, but your dv6000z looks pretty dorky compared to the HP business notebooks.

I prefer something more professional, but that's just me.

OpenFrag-- Opensource Game Development Community

Hello, folks. I'd like to introduce myself as not only an enthusiast of Deus Ex, but also a member of the OpenFrag project, which is an opensource game development community. We are developing a game engine that will, as we envision it to be, a central first-person game engine that will run a variet...
