Re: Best Graphics Options 2017

AFAIK every model in Deus Ex that was reused in TNM is actually created under a new class name - it is possible that the new HDTP releases will contain some models that are incompatible. That being said, they just won't be used - it won't break your game or something. It's possible and simpler to us...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced

Both are looking good! If I were pressed to say anything - the trigger on the stealth pistol is a bit too forward, but otherwise it's all artistic expression! Good job!

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced

I'm not angry, and if that's your goal - I kind of feel sorry for you. I've made a lot of bad suggestions for GMDX - anyone who'll go through this thread can say as much - but some of those (I hope) have been helpful. I think anyone might say something that can help, INCLUDING YOU, but you're just o...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced

Dude, you have to internalize that GMDX isn't a total conversion and aims to make the original design better. It does so primarily by fixing bugs, smoothing out gameplay, and puts emphasis on the imerssiveness of the entire experience. Graphical and audio enhancements are done because they were lack...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced

Made some 1337 MSPaint mockups of proposed gas mechanics in water - them being in water should only ever be a transitory state, not to mention it doesn't really make sense as you're holding your breath underwater anyway. Contaminated water is another matter, though. http://imgur.com/a/jw3GP Secondin...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced

Tear gas doesn't produce splashing effects when entering water.
Why should it enter the water anyway? It's lighter than water and physically-speaking has a low velocity - shouldn't it treat water as walls?
Animals can now be knocked unconscious.
What a time to be alive!

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced

Timing could use a little work, April 1st is the day you can't trust anything on the internet.

Also great news! I'm eager to see the new version.

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced

Random idea: Infolink level 3 + Targeting level 4 combo - Data Mining. If it's human, gives you the NPC's name, job description (can even be unknown/resistance member for UNATCO's opposition), maybe a history snippet. Should also work on corpses. If it's a bot, gives you the production name of the b...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced

Yay! Weapon comments: Assault Rifle - seems like a cross between a P90 and an M16 and a drum. Looks kind weird - but that's mostly the fault of the original assault rifle design. Take note that the barrel fires 7.62 ammo, and the grenade launcher fires 20mm ammo - but it seems like it's based off of...

Re: Deus Ex seems to go back into the past

It really isn't down to who made a certain object or construct - it's about how it made you feel. A-hah. So in that case I suppose I can decide that Deus Ex itself is not canon, that in fact only the original design document is canon, and you're not going to call bullshit on that, right? Well, no -...

Re: Deus Ex seems to go back into the past

That's like asking "what's art?" when art snobs consider paintings made by dogs as art. It really isn't down to who made a certain object or construct - it's about how it made you feel. That's why we already have coined terms such as "spiritual sequel", because even though it can't be considered as ...

Re: Deus Ex seems to go back into the past

Oh, thanks! That was an interesting read. To be honest, the report is kind of vague and can't be seen as a definite chronological marker - reports can be made years in advance, and I think that was left sort-of vague as a design choice. The Deus Ex bible states it's indeed 2052 - but there's a lot o...

Re: Deus Ex seems to go back into the past

Deus Ex didn't have a year or date mentioned in game - those have been decided by the sequels, which have been decidedly more futuristic even though being set anywhere from early to late 21st century. Also, the Square Enix ones don't have shit for continuity - my guess is that Eidos Montreal tried m...
