Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
Lemon lime is generally green, maybe mixed with blue and with drops of yellow - Sprite's color scheme being the most well-known example of that. The video w/ timecode where Kim references that, and tries to identify the soda flavors in both the vanilla and HDTP textures: https://youtu.be/jScXFj2V-3E...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
My most recent experience was with beta 3, which is largely outdated by now - but framerates there were consistent and high. I tested it on both a low-powered laptop (Lenovo Z41) and a gaming rig. You aren't pushing the rendering engine to its limits, if that's what you're worried about. The relevan...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
Random idea, although at this point it's probably too late - smell. Aside from taste, it's the only sense the NPCs lack. Make JC have a slightly bigger detection radius after swimming in the sewers' dirty waters, or breaking a certain amount of trash (cans and bags). The detection radius will be red...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
I remember using it in the Ocean Lab and it was never acknowledged by the organics. Maybe it's because they were too far away - but I remember them being quite close to the destroyed mech. Maybe they were too far away from the EMP blast itself, but I still think that if they see a mech on their side...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
I don't know, saying something is OP but fits a certain playstyle doesn't really solve the problem of reward vs. consequence. I don't think making the NPCs have all seeing eyes once you use the spy drone is good, either - but pushing into searching or alert mode is good. That means that if you use t...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
You aren't incorrect - but I think that the cooldown implemented in GMDX fixes a lot of what was broken about it. I think it'll be best if the EMP blast it produces will trigger enemies nearby and the mech (if it survives), because mechs usually aren't alone and it'll make combat more exciting, real...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
If the cooking-over-a-trashcan thing is implemented and can put out the fire, the same code should be used for the fire extinguisher's interaction with it. It could be used for stealth as it removes a light source - and for that same reason, it might not be applicable. I have no idea if burning tras...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
Your stamina recharges while crouched only if you have a perk for it (in Stealth, I think). It matters because you can't make a break for it after crouching and without planning ahead. Random thoughts about world building objects: In homeless villages, place pots on some of the fires as static objec...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
I agree with the first two suggestions. Running aug kind of makes silent aug obsolete, even though improvements done in GMDX try and make things better. Still, running aug + stealth gives a far better experience than silent aug + athletics, so gimping the running aug a bit is probably necessary. Tou...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
I've had no problem with the NSF basement puzzle. I think most people just weren't expecting such a redesign of a plot-important area, that's all. You could also blow up some of the doors there if you had difficulties - there are explosives lying all over the place there. Blaming the puzzle because ...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
Well, the thing with China is... There's a ton of weapons which aren't firearms in Deus Ex. Limiting yourself to swords isn't an excuse (not referring to you, CP - I'm referring to Warren Spector). Crossbow and its variants (which should be far more common there), throwing knives, crowbars, batons, ...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
Stupid question, but will probably help people improve on the random ideas suggested here - what ideas did you decide to adopt, then? Another random idea, but this one very much outside the scope of GMDX - but not outside the scope of mods built on top of GMDX: Proper hacking. Proper hacking that on...

Consider installing Lazarus for Firefox. Saved my ass many times over, especially with government sites that crash whenever you need them most.

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
The more I think about it, giving NPCs more ammo and weapon diversity is a must. Deus Ex already had PC-only weapons (such as the LAW, PS20, 20mm HE grenades, and all non-lethal weapons), and by increasing the diversity and limiting to be player-only it just makes the game world seem more drab. Why ...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
Incredibly tired, but more random thoughts: Ammo balancing - I remember not seeing a lot of pistol AP ammo, flare darts and taser darts and it seems like a wasted opportunity. Also making NPCs using that ammo with greater skill is probably a good idea. Want more diverse NPCs? Instead of giving them ...
