Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
Since Night Dive's Turok 2 remaster is getting good reviews I've been considering checking it out, I like a good retro shooter romp. Some notes for you: -It's rather hardcore and a bit of a mindfuck. You really have to use your brain, as far as pureblood shooters go. -has a bit of a slow start, as ...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
Turok 2 had the same, which is also a N64 game and predates Perfect Dark. It also had a next weapon/prev weapon cycle so you could use whatever method you preferred, but the execution wasn't great so the wheel was arguably better. didn't slow time, didn't bring up a massive window, if done fast enou...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
And though the IW system is reflected for the items in GMDX, it does not extend to augs. I think using rebound hotkeys is adequate, and often more desirable, but I agree more should maybe be done. It also doesn't have to strictly be 1-9 either, but 1-4 + tilde, V, Z, whatever, providing you have go...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
Quick aug select with a wheel can work like in Advent Rising - essentially slowing down time, and every click either enables or disables an aug. Infidel! I hate selection wheels for weapons/powers with a passion. Can't think of a game where I didn't think it sucked in both PC and console games. Rea...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
Yeah, some minor tweaking may be in order.
Native.Speaking of which, detection of Dvorak, AZERTY and other common keyboards?

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
... Having functional default keybinds is an obvious positive move. I wonder if the toggle laser button could be assigned to something closer (you said 'V' is currently unused), because it ends up being pretty important for those weapons its applied to. I use 'ALT' personally, and the old bind for ...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
Deus Ex's control layout was just plain weird or was designed by old school keyboard-only warriors. You had WASD and then bunged right next to it was look up/down etc assigned to Z and other surrounding keys. I cannot comprehend the logic there, but since keyboard-only days are long gone I've made s...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
Giving the player plus starting equipment from the start would kinda contradict JC's comment about his inventory ...oh yeah. well that's that then. I was thinking of just giving the player a list of inconsequential items to pick one from, just because choices are fun and I wasn't too keen on invent...

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
Big news is imminent, so stay tuned! Toggleable systems - such as stamina not recovering completely after swimming. An experience that is more customizable by the player is always a good thing, moreso when you have presets to select from if you are a player looking for simplicity. Hardcore mode does...

Re: Last call!
Hey Alvin, would you mind writing up a simple guide for importing models into Deus Ex? Just so that's clear, concise, and out in the open for all potential future modelers.

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
Are there any more texture artists around? I ask because some HDTP skins are low-res, like the Sniper Rifle. Just look at how amazing the texturing is on the LAW, GEP and Flamethrower, then look at the Sniper Rifle. That same level of quality on it would do a lot for eye candy and consistency.

Re: Minor things worth mentioning
No need to initialize variables in UScript, only declaration. It's beautiful. everything is defaulted to 0/false/none unless defined otherwise. Remember - no memory management. Has automated garbage collection. But yeah, I was thinking since i defaults to 0 it will never have the chance to iterate p...

Regarding the website: a news update is coming very soon, so I'll be working on it a lot over the next few days. Please prioritize the moddb CSS, if you don't mind.

Re: GMDXv9.0 Announced
If there's a will there's probably a way. Unfortunately there's not much a will here on my part. Same for the ammo. Ammo 1. It may be a little too late. Test build should be ready within the week (Bird's back). This would be a volatile, bug-prone feature so it's probably too late. 2. Currently a com...
