Re: HDTP beta
Anim wise, the pistol and the sniper both have significantly improved animations (in my mind), actual clip ejection, clip reinsertion and chambering a round (or whatever it's called. I don't know guns. It looks cool anyway). Previous versions were essentially "do something", then "jiggle weapon at t...

Re: HDTP beta
Hmmmm, ok: had a look. Essentially reload anims work as follows: "reloadbegin" =reasonably elaborate sequence "reload" =short, simple sequence "reloadend" =reasonably elaborate sequence And the game calls the first (if present), then LOOPS the second for the reloadtime, then plays the third (if pres...

Re: HDTP beta
I could look at this. No guarantees on time, obviously. I should probably upload the latest build to you afterward anyway, since I'm pretty sure your installer is the way forward at this point. (it's interesting how all these keep cropping up, and I'm amazed at how much some peoples' playstyles vary...

Re: Deus Ex AI: Documentation of the Labels of State Seeking
Basically, yeah. Also, the code is insanely intermingled with various hunt/seek/newtarget/reset/etc functions because A ) I obviously want them to always focus on a real person rather than a magical invisible person, and B ) I want to make sure the magical invisible persons evaporate as soon as not ...

Re: Deus Ex AI: Documentation of the Labels of State Seeking
It might be worth pointing out that Pawn navigation code is awful. Really, really fucking awful. And stupid. Really, really fucking stupid. Getting them to move toward a thing is much much easier than getting them to move toward a place . As far as I can tell looking through my own comments, GetNext...

Re: Question: Is there such a thing as superfluous wealth?
Further to what Jonas says, the critical issue in most of this (outrage at banker bonus X, walmart wages vs CEO takehome etc) is inequality. The actual numbers don't matter anything like as much as the proportional difference between them. Look up GINI coefficients for a nice summary. Ideal, hypothe...

Re: GMDX (update: v6 released)
I didn't mention Dark Souls anywhere in my post specifically because it DOES let you save anywhere, thus doesn't qualify as one of those stupid fucking games with no player-mediated saves. You can just stop playing any time you want, and rejoin any time you want. It doesn't penalise you for needing ...

Re: GMDX (update: v6 released)
I'd say in any situation where players actively gravitate to savescumming, you've either set the penalty to NOT savescumming far far too high, or you've simply got a fuckstupid playerbase. Generally (if this ever happens at all) it's the latter. And the answer is very very rarely "disable player-mad...

Re: What are you playing?
No, it's just like a standard track: You can run it properly like everybody else, or quit. Game ruining shortcuts are not an option. Run across the field you'll be disqualified in the Olympics or whatever. I chose "running track" for a reason. Because 'going for a run' is not a contest. It's a pers...

Re: HDTP beta
Can have a look. Chair thing turns out to be a tad more complicated than I hoped. It looks like the conversion method Akerfeldt used (to save us vast amounts of animation time) doesn't actually handle sitting anim positions with terribly great fidelity. But added to that, even the original meshes we...

Re: What are you playing?
I think that's a fairly excessive definition of choice and consequence. If you're looking for a challenge and you then cheat to remove that challenge, that's not a game flaw, that's a person flaw. Disallowing cheating will simply make no difference to anyone who wouldn't cheat anyway, and annoy the ...

Re: What are you playing?
My mod doesn't have a market? Are you planning to sell your mod? Because that was a pretty pertinent point in my original statement. As for things like fixing 'exploits', in a single-player game people play for fun, I don't see the point. It's something you can do, or can NOT do, and removing the '...

Re: HDTP beta
Hi hi! Sorry, been having yet another extended period of real life. Damn that whole real life thing. Right, chair issue: this is current? I'll try and check it later tonight and see if I get it my end. I really don't know why it would be the case, since I can't think of any reason why I'd've changed...

Re: What are you playing?
I've gotta say, "Fucking audience" is probably a pretty bad fundamental platform to base a game dev career on. :D "BUY MY FUCKING GAME U CONSOLETARDS" said no successful dev, ever. (well, maybe a few of them did, but they were successful already, so they kinda earned that ;) ) If you want to target ...

Re: What are you playing?
It's the same for aiming on Mouse vs Stick. Nah, they actually tested this (to see whether Xbox360 players and PC players could be integrated). Controller dudes vs M+KB dudes. Controller guys got utterly ruined, even when 'really good' console players were ranked up against 'mediocre' M+KB players....
