I voted as well.

Any idea how many votes you would need to win? Please phrase your answer in the form of an integer between 3 and six billion.

No idea sadly. I don't even know how many are expected to vote. Maybe Trestkon will know.

I honestly have no idea, but I think there were something like 55,000 votes cast in the nominations. I don't know what slice we need to win, though.

I voted...
I registered just for the sake of this.
Honestly I don't know whole lot about TNM, but it looks like whole lot of work went into it.
For the record, I didn't vote for Black Mesa: Source just for the sake of helping you guys, however, that mod is every bit as impressive visually.

The Polish website has made me wonder, what languages do you intend to have the mod translated into, and how long do you think that will take? Will you leave it entirely to volunteer speakers of said languages, or oversee the process?

We aren't planning to have anything to do with translating the mod, and considering the scope of the game and the volume of text in it, I'm not confident that anybody else will do it. That said, we will release everything necessary for others to translate all dialogue and text in the mod, and translators are welcome to ask me anything if there's doubt about meaning or context :)

It seems like a monumental task to me as well.

Think of the teaching aid it could be though. (Oh, so that's how you say, "Spontaneous combustion," in Arabic.) TNM, learn everything you need to know to save a Deus Ex forum in the language of your choice. If you put out a Russian version perhaps I could get in touch with my Polish heritage (that really does make sense, one of my great grandfathers was from eastern Poland.)

-

Hypothetical uses aside, I thought I read somewhere that someone was going to undertake the massive task of translating it into some other language. As a matter of fact I thought I saw that mentioned on the bug tracker somewhere.

That, as much as anything, was what generated my question.

You're probably thinking of the translatability entry in the bug tracker - that's Shane's effort to make sure all the text strings in the mod (GUI elements, messages, etc) which will be visible to players are translatable by changing TNM.opt.

Somebody did offer to translate the whole thing to French in the latest comment thread on the front page buuuuut... I'll believe it when it's done :P

I voted for you :)

And I don't care what they say on ModDB either, I've been scoping this out for years and the only thing I'd look forward to more than this would be a System Shock remake.
