Because HDTP is kinda raising the bar, we're going to have to do some changes to some of our weapons. Namely, we gotta add visible lasers, silencers, and scopes where applicable. This means more work for Phasmatis re-rigging stuff, and I know he hates that. I'm going to list our weapons here and write down which visible weapon mods they currently accept (and note it in a parenthesis if that should be changed). I'm only listing ranged weapons, obviously:

WeaponBlowPipe
Laser: Yes (what!? It's a fickin' blow pipe!)
Scope: Yes (WHAT!? COME ON!!)
Silencer: Prefitted

WeaponDoubleGuns
Laser: Yes
Scope: No
Silencer: Yes (already modelled)

WeaponFatRifle
Laser: Yes
Scope: No (I think that should be changed)
Silencer: Yes (no, it shouldn't be silencable)

WeaponLaser
Laser: Yes
Scope: Yes
Silencer: No

WeaponNapalmLauncher
Laser: No
Scope: Yes
Silencer: No

WeaponQdRocket
Laser: Yes
Scope: Yes

So that's 5 weapon models we'll need changed and re-rigged, the DoubleGuns, FatRifle, Laser, Napalm Launcher, and the Quad Launcher. I know you hate re-rigging, Phas, but will you do it anyway? Please? Pretty please? It'll be so weird if all the HDTP models have visible weapon mods, but not the TNM ones :S

You may not even have to change the doubleguns, since they only need a laser, and we can say that's mounted on the front, where it's not visible for the player ;)

And Shane: Could you implement my suggested changes in the code, please? Thanks in advance :)

You have no idea how much work that is lol.

The lasers are easy to fake on some of these weapons. The doubleguns can of course have it under the barrel like it would be in real life as you say. No idea when these will be done, I have a million things to do.

Hm... rigging isn't exactly an art, is it? Do you reckon somebody else could do it? What exactly is involved in this?

1) Modelling the attachments.
2) UV mapping them.
3) Texturing them.
4) Rerigging the whole model for animation (right?)
5) Importing the whole shabang.

Now... Trestkon could do #2, fub or Ricemanu could do #3, I might be able to find somebody who could rerig it (I know a guy, but I'm not sure how good he is?), and Trestkon could easily handle #5. Then all you'd have to do would be to model it. Would that be more realistic, ya reckon?

I'm going to have to disagree with this one. It *is* a huge amount of work. I think we really need to stop making big changes like this to content that we already have or we're going to get stuck in some never-ending cycle of improvement.

It's not that I don't like other people working on my stuff but I would like to it myself as I know exactly how I will go about it and get it all finished. Plus I shouldn't need to teach someone my way of working which would be a pain in it's self.

I'll finish the glock for HDTP once that's done I'll come over to TNM and finished everything that needs doing. :)

EDIT: Oh Trest posted just before me heh, well I don't mind doing it as long as this doesn't keep happening, I've got so much to do with TNM and HDTP.

I just think it'll seem so weird if our own new weapons use the old system while all the old weapons use the fancy new HDTP system. And it IS only 4 weapons...

Anyway, I'll leave the choice to Phas.

I'd do it of course if I could... but alas I fail at life.

Because A, I'm a workaholic, B I love weapons, C I love TNM weapons, and D I'd love to relieve you of some work. :/

I think it's a cool idea... neutral stance on weither it should be done or not.

ZP don't you have enough work to do as it is?

I think we first need to work out what guns need extentions since I lot of those don't make any sense. Then we can evaluate how much work it owuld be.

blowpipe shouldn't be able to have extentions (Except for the silencer it starts with that obviously wouldn't be modelled)

personally I don't think the double pistols should have a laser sight. There's a whole big issue about which gun the sight goes on and seriously you're not going for that degree of accuracy with akimbo pistols.

fat rifles shouldn't be silencable. Scope and laser are both useless for the rice bags. sort of make sense for the main fire but not absolutely necessary.

Napalm launcher does't even fire in a straight line. It doesn't need a scope.

Seems a little unrealistic for a rapid fire rocket launcher to have sniping potential in the form of a sight and silencer.

I think the shotgun could use a laser.

Thanks. We'll see what happens with the models then. It's hardly a catastrophe if we end up releasing without visible weapon mods :)

I feel guilty posting in here - feels like im spying thru a keyhole - so please forgive me :)

Jonas, conversely - its rather ironic - because Phas now has to stop working on the HDTP weapons to make TNM weapons more like the HDTP weapons lol.

I just wanted to bring this to light ;)

So please tell me to bugger off if you wish lol.

I can barely muster the focus to reply to this, but Metche: It's Phas' choice and he's okay with spending some time on TNM again. He has to fix a few models for us anyway.

And like Shane says, we saw him first ;)
