You will see here, a guy tried to join DXMP for the first time and was prevented from doing so.
This is extremely disappointing for us.
I would ask respectfully that in all your public places and marketing, that you could emphasize that Multiplayers can not use Vision Mod. And perhaps someone who knows this mod could figure a way of making it easy for people to avoid being prevented from playing Deus Ex online.
I.E. what should we say to people that want to single play with your mod, but also to play online?
Version Mismatch for First Time Multiplayers.

Yeah that is what I was refering too on the other Forums.
I think there is a way of setting the textures up in such a way that allows online play with default textures and NV textures.

The real trouble with reality is that there's no background music.

Try this:
Install NewVision in a folder called NewVision in your textures folder.
Add the missing textures files from original folder to this new folder.(So you have a textures folder and a NewVision folder within)
Copy your deusex.ini file and call it deusexmp.ini.
Change the line Paths=..\Textures\*.utx to Paths=..\Textures\NewVision*.utx in your deusex.ini file.
Create a shortcut of your deusex.exe file and add the target line that looks like INI="[Install path of deus ex]\deusexmp.ini"
Now you would have two shortcuts, one to use for single player with NewVision and one for multiplayer. I didn't get a chance to try this, so I don't know if it will work. Also, it is not the best solution, but it is (maybe) easier than multiple installs.

There is a easier way of doing it but similar to that I think. I'll re-download NV and try it.

Re: Version Mismatch for First Time Multiplayers.
Unfortunately this is inevitable given that you're overriding packages. A similar project for Unreal has got around this with a tool Epic gave them, which tricks the servers into thinking the package is the same as the original. But it doesn't work for Deus Ex's custom package format.

Re: Version Mismatch for First Time Multiplayers.
Wouldn't placing New Vision Textures into a separate folder and direct the .ini to that folder work?
Like this;
Paths=..\System\*.u
Paths=..\Maps\*.dx
Paths=..\NewVision\*.utx
Paths=..\Textures\*.utx
Paths=..\Sounds\*.uax
Paths=..\Music\*.umx
That way, any package mismatches it finds with the New Vision Textures it'll use the default textures in the Textures folder. If that makes any sense.
Or does it not work like that?

Re: Version Mismatch for First Time Multiplayers.
This may be a useless suggestion, but could not New Vision be 'made separate' in some way, with its own executable, just as TNM and other mods are, i.e. packaged so that it does not interfere with the 'default' DX?
