I'm sorry, NRC? I can't think of what that abbreviation might stand for.

Narcissus Relay Chat. Accessible through a DXI computer past that Matrix lobby looking area under Apps.

DXI was chalked full of neat stuff.

First the jumping puzzles which are understandably annoying for some people but I thought really emphasized the feel of exploring a dangerous and out of the way area.
The movie references in the level design...
The BSP holes...
The Abundance of emails...
Then the NRC easter egg...
The DOS puzzle...
The secret conversations with summoning phas and jonas...
My only complaint is that the Physical Easter Egg was to easy to find. :P

I didn't like the "BSP" holes. It's not like it's hard to create a real one on purpose, just make a slanting crescent brush wrap around central cylinder that matches its sides, or make a brush that intercepts with the outer limits of the level creation zone in Ued, or a number of other fuckups that can cause one. :P

I think they could have been implemented better. (I liked the warning sign though)
But I just thought the concept of fake BSP holes being rips in the space-time continuum in the TNM universe was pretty funny.

Unlike fake BSP holes, real BSP holes have several substantial downsides:

1) They're largely uncontrollable.
2) They can cause fuckups on the other side of a huge map.
3) They're actual fucking errors.

And rather than teleporting you, they tend to do nothing at all, or kill you instantly. Which isn't awesome game design. :)

Couldn't you instead create at least a really complicated bit of geometry set to mirror so it looks like a HOM effect? :P

Or, you know what I've always wanted to see in a Deus Ex/Unreal engine something? That neato blue grid from UnrealEd. Just a hole in the side of the level looking out upon that infinite grid. ;P
