Go to your TnmUser.ini file, located in your DeusEx\TNM\System folder.
Press Ctrl + F and type in "t=talk". This will ensure that you are altering single player rather than multiplayer controls. Find a couple keys you do not need, but are fairly easily accessible. I use Up and Down arrow keys since they are easy to remember, and are fairly isolated.
For one of the keys, type in "lagmonster 10", with the "10" being any number you wish so long as it is above 1. 10 is good for saving time, but it is a bit difficult to control. For another key, type in "lagmonster 1". This is necessary for regular play as level 10 is much too fast for human levels of reaction time.
When playing the game, press your key for lagmonster 10 on maps like the corporate sector in order to speed up time and move about very quickly. Now the size of the maps is immaterial.
If this is well-known amongst you already, there is little discussion concerning it that can be found using the Search function.

Neat.
`
augadd augspeed
summon augmentationupgradecannister
summon augmentationupgradecannister
summon augmentationupgradecannister
set human energy 999999999
Add the aug, upgrade, and enable it. I haven't tried it. Should work, but it would mess up bioenergy. Like Deus Ex, TNM has some colossal maps. I'll have to try lagmoster the next playthrough. That's a good setup.

There's not much "intelligence" in running the same route forth and back over and over again . Common problem with all "free-roaming" games, you get a realisticly looking world but it tends to feel too small (same areas all the time) and too large (need to run through them too many times) at the same time. TNM is not too bad about it, The Witcher was much worse.Jonas wrote:And you people wonder why games these days are "dumbed down"
Re: In This Topic: How to traverse maps quickly.
Pfft dumbed down doesn't just refer to intelligence, also to how much effort the game expects of you.

And in the last decade games has gone from SS2 to Bioshock, or in laymans terms, from expecting you to be able to do basic math and possess somewhat intelligent thought to expecting you to be able to press the buttons on the controller.Jonas wrote:Pfft dumbed down doesn't just refer to intelligence, also to how much effort the game expects of you.
And the best way to haxxor across the map is just do type in ghost

fly + walk FTW (especially in Downtown)
Re: In This Topic: How to traverse maps quickly.
Eh, I didn't really think of this as "dumbing down" TNM, more like helping reduce some of the time needed to travel. If nothing else, this should serve to prevent complaints about how large the maps are/suggestions for teleport systems, taxis, etc.
I don't really think that merely saving time makes a game easier - it only makes it less frustrating. Older games didn't have the ability to skip cutscenes (I believe Castlevania II was notorious for having a slow, unskippable day-to-night transition), and allowing that in this game doesn't in any way make it easier, it just makes it more pleasant experience. That's the same purpose I'm trying to achieve by sharing this.
Typically games with large maps will usually have slow walking to begin with, and eventually add some way to move about quickly once the player has settled in. In Pokemon Red(yes yes, but that was 9 years ago when I was a wee lad), you start out by walking which is very, very slow for moving about the large map. Eventually you get a bike, and some time after that you get the ability to fly. This cheat lets you do about the same without anyone having to do any extra work, which is always nice.

Re: In This Topic: How to traverse maps quickly.
Didn't say anything about it being difficult, just expecting you to invest some time and effort in its completion. What would you rather have, TNM levels that are too big so you spend a lot of time walking around or Invisible War levels that are so small you can't play them if you're claustrophobic, and you can't tell the interior maps from the exterior ones?Bulzeeb wrote:I don't really think that merely saving time makes a game easier - it only makes it less frustrating.
Even older games didn't even have cutscenes, so there!Older games didn't have the ability to skip cutscenes (I believe Castlevania II was notorious for having a slow, unskippable day-to-night transition), and allowing that in this game doesn't in any way make it easier, it just makes it more pleasant experience. Such as... the speed enhancement augmentation?Typically games with large maps will usually have slow walking to begin with, and eventually add some way to move about quickly once the player has settled in.
(Note to everybody: I know TNM's maps are too big, we've already admitted it, I'm just playing Devil's Advocate here because you are all lazy scumbags.)
