Starting TNM launches regular Deus EX instead

I have the steam version of deus ex (GOTY edition, if that makes a difference) and yes, I've run it more than once before installing TNM.
The only other mod I've installed is the new vision mod, but I've already tried deinstalling that, it didn't help.
I'm running the game through a steam shortcut with this set as target:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\common\deus ex\System\TNM.exe" INI="C:\Program Files (x86)\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\common\deus ex\System\TNM.ini" USERINI="C:\Program Files (x86)\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\common\deus ex\System\TNMUser.ini"
There are no errors on start, it just launches the regular deus ex instead of TNM. Patch 1.0.4 is installed, too.
I've already tried reinstalling both TNM and deus ex, no change.
Does anyone have an idea what else I could try?

Have you tried not running it through Steam?

Did you replace the Steam DeusEXexe with something like this:
http://kentie.net/article/dxguide/ The original Steam DeusExexe changes a few things that stops the mods from working.
If you replace the Steam DeusEXexe after launching TNM you'll have to either re-install TNM, or with another copy of the replacement exe rename that to TNMexe and put that in your TNM system file after deleting the original.

Well TNM.exe is the one getting called, and that doesn't use the Steam version of DeusEx.exe, it uses Hanfling's version. I don't know though, I'm not that familiar with the Steam version of Deus Ex, and getting mods to work on it. My impression was TNM usually works out of the "box".

The Steam exe doesn't allow OpenGL rendering on top of everything else. Anywho, here's something helpful I hope:

I tried it with the exe from kentie, as well as
this one, but it's still just launching the regular deus ex.

Nevermind, sorry for wasting your times.
I used the wrong paths for the ini files. (I used "../deus ex/system/*.ini", while it should've been "../deus ex/TNM/system/*.ini")
It seems to work fine now, thanks to everyone!
