How do you use bare hands/gloves?

I have a master skill so I can use all the gloves and have all the gloves but when I click them on inventory (beside the nanokeyring icon) I get "gloves are now equipped" but I still can't use them, how do you use them?

I think you have to assign a key to use them (via the ingame menu), you can't just use the "fire" button..
