Every time I try to install TNM I get an error message saying that I must run Deus Ex at least once before installing, or it won't work right. Knowing full well that I HAVE played it extensively, I attempted an install...And when it was done I got a whole bunch of white and black. I had to stop the application via Task Manager.
What gives?
Changed the thread name to something more descriptive and stickeh'd for future reference. - Jonas

Re: TNM not installing correctly?
What do you mean by "a whole bunch of white and black"? What version of Deus Ex do you have, and did you install it or just copy it to your drive? Also, what OS are you using?TowaruTsura wrote:Every time I try to install TNM I get an error message saying that I must run Deus Ex at least once before installing, or it won't work right. Re: TNM not installing correctly?
I Installed it, and I have Vista.
By white and black, I mean that it seems like logos should be there, but it's all white and black boxes.

Re: TNM not installing correctly?
I KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!
It is something to do with the OpenGL renderer, I thought I would never get it working, but you need to edit TNM.ini and change the renderer to D3D MANUALLY, okay? Sticky this topic or something as I thought my comp could not handle it when 'twas just the renderer.
And there were no error messages until AFTER I closed it via Task Manager, but the TM obscured the message and it disappeared soon after, I could never read it...

Re: TNM not installing correctly?
How do I do that?
Edit: nevermind. Fixed.

Re: Black/white graphical artifacts
For anybody else who might consult this thread to solve a similar issue, here is the solution:
TNM Player Manual wrote:Which renderer you ought to use depends on your video card and drivers. Open TNM\System\TNM.ini and find the line that starts with GameRenderDevice. If it says “D3DDrv.D3DrenderDevice” (without the quotation marks) after the equation mark, try changing it to “OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice” (again, no quotes) and see if that helps, or vice versa.

Re: Black/white graphical artifacts
What graphics card do you have? ATI/NVidia/Intel, etc? Would be useful to find out what types of cards have problems with the OGL renderer, so a "Warning" could be placed in a help file, etc.
