Using the patch 1.0.1 on a game in progress

Post by elkston »

I want to install 1.0.1, but am in the middle of a playthrough (right before I go to DXI on WC storyline) and don't want to start over.

I realize that you will not see changes to maps that you have already visited, but I'd like to know if there are actually any crash/gamestopping bugs that might arise if I apply the patch anyway.

I am interested in increasing stability going forward.

Well, I dumped my half-finished playthrough for a fresh one, but it did seem to work fine when I went back to it. No sign of the the quickload crash, anyways.
Ignore anything I just said, I got killed by a foldaway counter in a Downtown coffee shop.

I installed the patch mid-DXI without visible problems.

Before you go to DXI is the best possible time to install the patch - it minimizes the risk of problems.

If Jetset says he hasn't had any problems, it's probably safe to patch. The only issue I'd be worried about is whether the dialogue audio bindings are fucked up, but if Jetset didn't get that, you probably won't either.

That reminds me, I need to delete the 1.0.0 audio backups I made before patching, because I haven't had any problems at all with that.

Just an FYI,

Installed 1.0.1 patch without incident. Restored savegame from 1.0.0 working just fine. Now in DXI.

Very glad to hear it.

Remember to keep a few separate savegames.
