Upgrade to 1.03 as fast as you can. If you have done 1.02 you won't get the texture trouble. Believe me you really do want 1.03 as it will save you a heap of frustration later in the game. If you have 1.02 installed 1.03 will be no prob except for saved games. Don't worry about the few troubles with 1.03, if you stay with 1.02 you will find a number more.

Updating from 1.0.2 to 1.0.3 should be safe, since it seems the main problem is that the texture packages aren't getting patched, but they weren't changed at all between 1.0.2 and 1.0.3. You'll have to restart your game though, since your savegames will almost certainly be corrupted if you update in the middle of a game.

SelfishAl and Morti: could you look at the [Engine.Engine] section in your TNM.ini (make sure you find the right one, the one in \TNM\System) and look for the line Root=TNMGUI.tnmRootWindow? Is it there, or does Root= have something else after it?

Thanks for the advice everyone, I did indeed patch to 1.0.3 and now I'm working my way through the game, so far, I'm very impressed! Well done!

You installed a modified dxogg.dll between patches 1.0.1 and 1.0.2? They wont update if an incorrect version is found (any betas posted here) explaining that crash that has LONG since been fixed.

Sadly; I can't think of another solution than to reinstall, unless the chocboo2 version posted last in said thread was the version used in 1.0.2 (even not, it's probably stable enough to use).
Can somebody tell me how I can get a custom avatar?
Oh wait, I already got one...

I have patch 1.02.

So I definitely have to start a new game if I patch to 1.03? And if I stick to 1.02 are there some types of game stopping bugs, because I really hate to have to start over from scratch.

Unfortunately it can be Russian Roulette, but yes towards the end you could face major frustration with 1.02. Your choice but if it was me I'd go for 1.03 pronto.

Thanks. I've just installed and guess I'll have to start a new game. Bummer!

Anyway now that I'm in this part of the forum I have a tech question. My monitors native resolution is 1280 X 1024 however if I try and run the game at that rez I get all these funky colors and weird textures.

Does anyone know if there is a way to fix this?

Specs;

Athlon Dual core at 2.3
3 gigs ram
8600 GT

You and I have very similar set ups except for the ram. I have mine set to 1028 x 760 and have no probs. Which renderer did you go for?

I have no idea what renderer haha.

Which would be best for my comp and how do you get it? All I did was download then install the mod.

When you start DX and subsequently TNM you are offered a few choices. OpenGL, 3d,etc.
OpenGl works with my 8600. I also have Dual core optimizer installed, that saves having to set the affinity thing in a few games.
