Post Adding mp3 Music
Is there a way to add music in the form of straight audio files such as mp3 or ogg?

No, Unreal supports UMX only, which is only tracker formats.

But: http://home.tiscali.nl/ariadohq/ta/tutes/wavtoumx.html

It's pretty ridiculous that the person writing this guide seemingly knows nothing about actually working with audio.
Quote:
16-bit - no idea what the 16 bit means (bitrate perhaps?), but don't use wavs in 32-bit or something...

This is just sad. If you're going to write a guide about something, it's not hard to look up a concept instead of saying you have no clue what it is.

Also: It's 2012. A flashing red light should go off inside your head if a site tells you to convert a music track to 22.05kHz mono (or worse in some places in this guide). That's when you really ought to look for a better solution.

At any rate, that solution seems pretty bizarre. There's some kind of ogg-playback package for Unreal/Deus Ex, I'm pretty sure. I've heard mention of it on these forums. I'll try to dig it up.

EDIT: Yeah, this guy was trying to do a similar thing; TNM uses an ogg vorbis playback package that you should be able to get working, even if this person didn't have much luck.

yeah i did. you put dxogg.u and dxogg.dll from TNM into DeusEx\System folder. You make sure it is getting loaded in your edit packages. You put your ogg files in your music folder, under a folder you must create named, simply, "ogg". You then place the dxoggmusicmanager class in the map, go to the ambientogg, for instance, and type in "blahblah.ogg" and it will play that song in the bg of your game.

Does anyone know if the system allows for multiple oggmusicmanager actors to be placed and switched on and off?

So you did eventually figure out what was meant by 'Music folder'? Can you be more specific?

Odds are he's just referring to the same music folder where all the other music is, in the root DeusEx directory (not DeusEx\system).

Where is the dxogg.dll file? I found the dxogg.u in TNM/System but not the dxogg.dll.

I have TNM version 1.0.4. Doesn't seem to have DXOgg.dll

The DXOgg.dll is in your regular systems folder, "DeusEx\System".
