 One small example....
...Of why Deus Ex is STILL the greatest game to date: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1b-bijO3uEwName one other game with a conversation in it that significant & intelligent. Not to mention it is a fucking secret area, not part of the main quest.

This reminds me of "First Day on the Internet Kid".

Not necessarily, I see it as him emphasising how awesome the conversation is. It became even more awesome for me when I understood it (thanks to Chris the Cynic).
I disagree however, with the claim that it's a secret area. With a massive ass-door and a keypad beside it, I wouldn't call it very secret.

 Re: One small example....
Exactly. True, it is not a secret really, but it is missable if you dont have the multitools or dont feel like exploring.

First time I played the game, I think I missed it.

 Re: One small example....
Got an example? Actually you are probably right, Human Rev was surprisingly good, still not as good and as intellectually stimulating as the first though.

Planescape: Torment.
The entire last level is littered with them.

 Re: One small example....
Ok some great examples, but none have the deep gameplay, nice length, hordes of optional content, simulation design & replayability that Deus Ex has. Not all in one amazing bundle of a game anyway (along with the amazing story). .

 Re: One small example....
...Human Revolution. It's a better Deus Ex than Deus Ex ever was. Aside from the boss fights - but then, Deus Ex had a few of those too.

 Re: One small example....
They weren't arguing that those games were better, just that they had conversations as smart as that one. But since you want to argue on those terms: How exactly do you compare Deus Ex with Planescape? Apples and oranges. And Define "Deep" gameplay, please. Every game mentioned so far is at least as long as Deus Ex. Plenty of optional content in all games mentioned so far, especially in Planescape. Simulation design doesn't automatically make a game better and all mentioned games have plenty of replayability. Though Human Revolution definitely isn't as replayable as the first, because of the number of Praxis points you get.

 Re: One small example....
I know. Also in response to the rest of your post you are missing the part where I said "not all in one bundle anyway". But whatever, it's all opinions so there is no point arguing about it, but I feel Deus Ex is still in another league when compared to all other singleplayer games. Nobody here that feels the same? Seriously?

 Re: One small example....
Yes. Augmentations were useful and fuelled your gameplay choices. The story and characters were engaging. Stealth and combat both worked well. Basically, the first time I played Human Revolution all I could think was "This is what Deus Ex was meant to play like"
