Mods and Gametap Deus Ex
A friend of mine has Deus Ex on Gametap (you can thank me for that, im still trying to get his ass to play single player though). When he gets through his first playthrough, I want to tell him about the great mods that are in production or already have been produced (that includes the mods in production here). But if mods dont work with Gametap's Deus Ex, ther is no point in telling him anything. Does anyone here know if mods are compatible with Gametap's Deus Ex?
PS: Sorry if there is bad grammar in this post, I'm typing with one hand because I sprained my left wrist a couple of days ago.
On a lighter note,
WANNA KNOW HOW I GOT THESE SCARS?

Re: Mods and Gametap Deus Ex
Actually I would be interested to know that as well, I don't know anybody who has DX via Gametap, so we've had no way to actually test that. Why not ask him to install HDTP's release 1 and see if it works with his copy of DX?
I'm fairly confident we can find a solution if it doesn't immediately work, but let's see how easy it'll be first.

Re: Mods and Gametap Deus Ex
I believe it is impossible, since it doesn't install a "Deus Ex" map on you hard drive. It locks it away somewhere in it own system, I believe, so the data cannot be replaced or copied or removed...
Re: Mods and Gametap Deus Ex
Well if he purchased and owns the game... And if it were to suddenly "spawn" the normal installation files on the hard drive, how could that be a problem?
Of course if its a different edition then it can be treated as a different product. I'm sure the original Deus Ex does not upgrade to GOTY edition... or does it?

It does.r00tb33r wrote:I'm sure the original Deus Ex does not upgrade to GOTY edition... or does it?
And both versions upgrade to 1.112fm.
So there would be no moral problem with downloading it eg. via a Torrent to enable mods.

Re: Mods and Gametap Deus Ex
Acutally, DeusEx is free on Gametap...
Hmm, I really wish I had a signature...
Re: Mods and Gametap Deus Ex
Well good for everyone then. I haven't had anything other than GOTY so I dunno what the difference is in terms of game content.Jonas wrote:It does.r00tb33r wrote:I'm sure the original Deus Ex does not upgrade to GOTY edition... or does it?

Re: Mods and Gametap Deus Ex
That honestly doesn't make whole lot of sense to me... So you have it, yet you don't own it. Tricky...m3rc1l3ss wrote:Acutally, DeusEx is free on Gametap...
Re: Mods and Gametap Deus Ex
So... if I got it illegally (Torrent), it would be legal??? O.o!?
