A bundle of cells, thus a collection of things, thus a list, thus rubbish.

According to kdawg88's reasoning anyway.

To be fair, the games are split up into eras, not genres. But the early and late 90's should probably be split up.

Actually they've been split into eras and genres, notice that each triad up for voting counts as a genre. It's just that the genres are really incredibly broad, presumably precisely to keep the amount of exhibited games manageable.

Ah, sorry, I didn't realize that each page was a genre. I found the whole thing not organized very intuitively.

>Looking through list
>See that DOOM II beat Deus Ex & Unreal

Oh well, can't win 'em all I suppose.

>See Halo 2

What the....?

Thanks for the update Kee. I suppose with the voting trend we can see 101 Games for Windows as best compilation of games.

To be honest I don't mind any of those games winning, I love the original Dooms and Unreal and Deus ex. I probably like Unreal marginally more than Deus Ex actually.

I've never played Unreal but I loved the DOOM series! I was brought up on that and Wolf3D as a kid.

To be expected when you have to choose between DOOM and Deus Ex. Kind of arbitrary which one comes out on top, seeing how little they have in common.

I'm not sure DX fits in a museum exhibition. While it's certainly on the list of the evolution of videogames, it's not particularly exemplary of anything but itself. Doom II captures a time better, with controversy and popularity and simplicity. DX is more of an outlier.

If it's a Smithsonian exhibit, it's sad to imagine schoolchildren in 2100 seeing a Doom II demo instead of Deus Ex, but they'll certainly understand more about what videogames were like.
