Yikes, use TIFF, PSD is lossy and that could be painful.

I prefer PNG, it has everything AND great compression.

Yeah but how am I meant to keep him together with so many layers of nonsense. PSD FTW! Second Place goes to PNG and third to JPEG. Why'd you say .TIFF? I thought TIFF was a print based format.

TIFF does layers, LZW or unencumbered ZIP compression, it's lossless, and it's old so it's compatible. JPEG is lossy and evil but very useful for the web. PNG is good, but I've tried it and still use TIFF, and wouldn't use it for the web (for my own reasons, alpha channel). GIF is just awful unless it's solid colours, in which case it's excellent. PSD does layers and now smart filters, but it's lossy, so I'd never use it. RAW beats them all technically, but we'll see what kind of standardization puts it together (Adobe DNG?).

PNG does support alpha channels. Do you think this is a bad thing?

Why not TGA?

No matter how long you take to get back to me, make sure you get back to me before you finish the project. Not after...than its kind of redundant since its already done...and stuff...

So yeah I would like to know whether Im successful or not before you finish the project...that would be quite cool

Its weird, I used to only use PNG's to save sample site layouts made in Fireworks; recently, though, I've started using them in place of GIF's because PNG's offer, like Jonas said, better quality for a smaller file size.

I don't know how PNG's do it, but as soon as Microsoft gets off its ass and properly supports PNG's in IE, it'll be nice to see GIF's go the way of the floppy diskette.
