Deus Ex in widescreen - Any way to get subtitles?
I've noticed that setting Deus Ex to a widescreen resolution removes all subtitles from cinematics (though conversation subtitles remain intact.)
Is there any way to get the cinematic subtitles back? I kind of need them for mods like Zodiac which don't have voice acting.
I've already tried messing with the FOV settings, but no luck.
Any help would be appreciated.

No luck, I'm afraid.
To note, I'm running at 1366x768, which is a 16:9 resolution, if this has any bearing.

Since you tried the FOV thing this may not help, worth a try I guess:http://kentie.net/article/dxguide/

Still no good. The FOV fixes do indeed work to make the view a lot better, but cinematic subtitles are still missing. Thanks for all the help, though. I hope someone around here knows of a work-around.

Still no idea how to fix this. I don't mean to bump my own topic or anything, since it's still on the front page, but I wonder if there's a .ini settings for the subtitles? If there is, I haven't seen it or don't know what it's called.

Re: Deus Ex in widescreen - Any way to get subtitles?
I'm running Deus Ex at 1440x900 (Yes my monitor is Widescreen) and I think that is a Widescreen Resolution.
I can see the Subtitles fine without using any modifications.
That's my retail copy.
I could be totally wrong on this but I know the Steam version has slightly different settings due to it having a different .exe.
And I had similar problems running Deus Ex widescreen on my steam copy.
(Yes I have both copies )

The real trouble with reality is that there's no background music.

I'm running retail.
Again, some subtitles work fine, such as dialogue.
However, the main thing is when the intro cutscene plays, there are no subtitles.
This is a problem in mods like Zodiac, which have a custom intro but no voice dialogue, so you can't even read what they're saying.

Re: Deus Ex in widescreen - Any way to get subtitles?
Ahh yes I see what you mean.
I started a playthrough of The Nameless Mod this morning and running it in Widescreen cut off the bottom of the second line of Subtitles in the Intro Cutscene.
Erm. Sorry I don't know what to suggest but I'll have a play with the settings and see if i turn up anything interesting in the morning.
Other than that all I can say is change the resolution to something lower to read the subtitles and change them back when you get ingame. Not exactly practical.

Re: Deus Ex in widescreen - Any way to get subtitles?
Well, thanks for the help.
My LCD monitor has an option for displaying the aspect ratio properly if I switch to a 4:3 resolution, such as 1024x768, thankfully. But I hate using a non-native resolution unless I have to.

So still no solution found?
Re: Deus Ex in widescreen - Any way to get subtitles?
I am running 1600x900 (also wide-screen) and using Sold Out version of GOTY and have the same issue, everything works except cinematic text gets cut off, which is annoying, especially when working on my mod and need to see if the text is there and switching between resolutions just for that is also a bit inconvertible.

Tried that, subtitles in cinematics still don't show up, anyone actually get the subtitles to work on widescreen and if so how?
