Of course, as soon as your target notices you've lauched your first wave, they'll start doing exactly the same thing, so ultimately the only thing you gain by firing first is maybe an extra hour to spend saying 'LOL PWNED!' before everyone gets wiped out anyway.
FUN!
That is my point. XD
Btw, a 20% success rate is good enough when you have the resources to try multiple times. Knowing that a nuke LAUNCHED from another country will take quite awhile to reach you, you have the time for multiple attempts at destroying it. 20% = 1 in 5 success. It isn't like we will launch one missile in defense and hope it hits. It will be multiple missiles at one time.
But wait, if Hollywood is to be believed (and when has Hollywood ever lied to us?), then we'll only launch one counter-missile to stop the incoming nuke! After all, one's all we need, right? Right?
I got us off course? Look at you guys, this thread turned into a discussion about destroying ICBM's...I don't remember nukes playing a part in the early days of HDTP
Forgive me for reviving an old thread, but in light of the TNM release this is very interesting reference material. I'm sure there are other players like myself who've been wondering how much of TNM's story is based on fact. I was actually Googling around a bit to find out, but this thread answered a lot of questions.
I'll have to give that a read myself. Seeing as how I joined the Deus Ex community (well, just here which was the only really active part left) very very late.
First news posts for Deus Ex Incarnate. Also, Gwog went by Gollywog at that time.
