 Re: Skyrim
All this talk makes me want to play Morrowind again... Should tweak the settings back to normal though for with an increased draw distance it's painfully obvious how small Morrowind actually is.

 Re: What are you playing?
Dunno 'bout that, but it would certainly have been a way to make it more like an RPG. Would also make it more replayable. Dunno about better as I said. Except the ones in twitch2r were (more) interesting

Except they weren't. Wow this is really intelligent discussion! Thank God we have this forum for such stimulating intellectual debate.

 Re: Skyrim
The Witcher II's skill system was really bad.
Although, despite it the game was pretty good, so it does show a perfect example of a game being fun despite the system...

 Re: What are you playing?
Eh, you have a point actually. They were about as boring, with the exception of the adrenaline attacks. Those were pretty cool and interesting imo.

 Re: Skyrim
Well so far we do have 3 people thinking Skyrims system is better than morrowinds, with two praising it, and the other being hard pressed to call anything fun Though Dragon said he didn't like it, and considering how he's always so positive about everything, that's really saying something.

 Re: Skyrim
Well, I'm going to reinstall Morrowind GOTY on my old PC and play that for a while and then when I get Skyrim, I'll compare them to decide which game does certain things better in my opinion anyway. I get the feeling I don't have to replay Oblivion as that matter has already been decided.

 Re: Skyrim
Stealth is so OP. Just killed the final boss in the mages guild questline by sneaking up to him, getting two or three sneak attacks in before he noticed me(oh what was that, something hid me for 300 damage, I'm sure it was nothing. Oh wait, there it is again) and then running away and hiding behind a pillar until he forgot about me and then repeating the procedure.
I probably could have killed him in a fair fight but HNNNNNNG hp bloat.

Buckets help too for certain things unless that's now been removed.

 Re: Skyrim
Thanks Jonas This game is amazing, there is a ton of detail and depth to the open world. I would probably rate the Elder Scroll series like this Skyrim > Oblivion > Daggerfall > Morrowind > Arena imo ofc. Its that good, hopefully it receives GOTY honors. Back to punching dragons in the face

 Re: Skyrim
How is Morrowind below Oblivion on the awesome scale, zomg! jk, whatever you want Anyway, I now have a talking dog as a companion and visited the first non-whiterun city after ... 15 hours of playtime? I'm not sure if I ever will complete this game, probably not this year at least

 Re: Skyrim
A talking dog?! ZOMG SPOILER. I've been to Whiterun, Riften, Winterhold, and Dawnstar so far, 4 out of 9 cities. And Steam says I've played for 34 hours, which sounds about right. This game is fucking big. And better yet, the dungeons are interesting and the quests are fun! I'll agree with Jaedar that stealth is overpowered, but to me that's a massive improvement over Oblivion's completely useless stealth. I can reliably snipe my way through entire dungeons right now, picking enemies off with my one-hit ranged sneak attacks without calling attention to myself as long as there's at most 2 people in the room - sometimes I can even handle 3, but that's unreliable. A lot of dungeons are set up with no more than 2 people in a room at a time, so I can pretty much stealth kill my way through the whole thing. It's not super challenging, but it sure is satisfying. Pretty sure I've grokked how dragons work now, which makes them a little less scary, but I've been randomly attacked by dragons twice in Dawnstar, and I think it's fun how all the civilians come running after the dragon is dead to stare at its corpse and go "omg omg omg!" I've had a fair few annoying bugs though. It's not as buggy as your average Obsidian game, but it's not as polished as what BioWare tends to spit out either. I'm getting significantly lower-res textures than my graphics card merits, Aemer figures because the engine doesn't handle AMD and multithreading very well so the framerate suffers which the engine erroneously tries to compensate for by turning down the texture resolution. Or something. Whatever it is, I hope it can be fixed, because my PC isn't super modern but it should still be pretty beefy and at a distance this game doesn't look much better than Oblivion. Moreover, I've run into two separate unsolvable quests now, where the game has just refused to acknowledge that I've solved them - neither of them were showstopping, but it's always hugely annoying to encounter that sort of bug. I've also run across several major clipping and collision issues, including a dead horse that seemed to be stuck in the air high above me, a guy who's standing outside Whiterun next to a copy of himself who's stuck half-way into the ground, and the mannequins in the enchantment lab in my Riften house getting displaced from their sockets when I had my alchemy lab installed, so now they're standing in the middle of the room. Also the game likes to move the skeletons of the dragons I kill around in unpredictable ways. Every time I leave Whiterun, the skeleton of the first dragon I killed seems to move - last time I came out of Whiterun, it was right there in front of the gate, and I was very disconcerted by it These things mar the experience somewhat. But it's still a 9 out of 10 game as far as I'm concerned. My current long-term goal is to learn glass smithing so I can make myself a better bow. Maybe I'll even remember to name it this time

 Re: What are you playing?
my last char was level 25, the only issues I ran into was a bug that stopped me from being able to buy higher level magic spells, I've fixed it now with my level 18 character I have now, part of my problem was I over did it with the leveling, and at some point it unlocked the wrong merchant, Illusion spells were higher than they should've been. ect. Seems to be fine now though. Also there's a really funny and yet sad exploit (sad because it could've been QAed for so easily), where if you remove your Mage's Hat via the favs menu you get infinite mana, when you run out just equip and unequip.
