 Noob question about save compatibility
Hey guys, I'm a noob here, but I've been following the HDTP project for a long while now, and I have a question:
When I tried the 1st release, it was not compatible with my current save games. Will this be "fixed" in the final release, will I have to start over? (I have NOT beat the game yet ;( )

It 'should' be compatible with any and all savegames, provided those savegames were made using vanilla DX (not any core mods like shifter).
No code has been removed from the original package, only added (to account for the new meshes behaving slightly differently).
Out of curiosity, how many saves did you try, and what errors did it give you?

Oh.......
Yeah, I'm running Shifter X-(
I hope they'll make it compatible, then, though I doubt it.
Still, thanks for the help.

We can't make it compatible with shifter. The two are completely different codebases. Shifter rewrites the core code, and so does HDTP (albeit only to change mesh/texture references).
It's like complaining that your Deus Ex savegames aren't openable in Crysis.
What you MIGHT be able to do is use the latest version of shifter, which includes code for finding and using HDTP meshes and textures if they're available.
That is your best (and, well..only) bet.

The latest version of Shifter should work for this; I wrote code for HDTP compatibility specifically with these kinds of situations in mind.

EDIT: Nvm, thanks for all the help.
