Post Deus Ex Bloomed
I had to register just to say this: (apologies if I've missed a topic about this if it's already been created, but I'm quite excited and must tell you all) http://boris-vorontsov.narod.ru/ss_deusex_en.htm

Click that link. This russian dude has been making normal mapped, HDRed custom shader for many older games and now Deus Ex has joined the list. Look, it's sooo pretty!

P.S. Great job guys, hope DE:HDTP gets released soon - I'm looking forward to it.

Welcome to the boards Shlobadov :)

I'm afraid you're a little late with your post - we do have threads about the enbSeries mod from the aforementioned 'Russian dude'.

Which reminds me - really need to reply to his email. Not enough hours in the day!

The main problem with it is the kerrazy bumpmapping, which makes everything look like it's been partially eaten by aliens (body of the many, anyone?).

I can't work out how to disable it and just keep the bloom, coz the bloom is actually pretty sweet.

Nice Russian Shlobadov :D

DDL - maybe I should ask him about switching bump mapping on and off as part of a feature set for a next version of enbSeries -

I thought you can do that - you certainly could do it in enb for GTA:SA...

By all means, let me know which settings do it, coz I can't figure it out for the life of me. :)

(and I've fucked about with a LOT of the settings with no success)

Awesome, whenever I think it can't get better I get taught a lesson :P

Is this with a modification of the original or the OpenGl engine? Does it require custom normal maps or does it use the textures as template?

Textures as templates, it would seem. (since NOBODY in their right mind would make a normal map for grass that's THAT horrible)

Possibly it uses tex group as a decider for which bumpmap to use, since wood and metal and concrete seem different from each other, but similar to other woods, metals or concretes, respectively. But I could be wrong. It does happen. :P

Does this actually work with HDTP?

Does normal mapping only work on world textures or objects aswell?

Yes it works with HDTP, since it's a renderer alteration, not an actual game asset alteration.

And no, from what I can see, it only works with level geometry, not meshes.

But that's ok: HDTP meshes are OMFG high def anyway, so don't need normal/bump mapping.

Too bad, but maybe getting bloom and normal mapping on level geometry is cool enough. The Way it is now HDTP and NV are beyond anything I ever imagined possible for the DX engine  And who knows what's yet to come...maybe the only way to finish this mod is to work faster than they can throw new features at you and leave the new stuff to others^^

It crashes on me every time I try to switch my resolution to something a little higher than the lowest possible, sadly.
