 HDTP on Mac OS X
Hey guys, I did a search for a topic like this but the most recent one I could find was from years ago before Release 1 even came out (I think)
Anyway so I have Deus Ex on my Mac, it's basically the Windows version wrapped up in this thing called Cider so that it will run on OS X. I have access to all the same files that you would have on the Windows version but since I'm on a Mac I can't run the exe to install HDTP.
Basically what I'm wondering is, if it's not too much of a hassle, would it be possible to upload the files that need to be replaced so I can run Deus Ex in a much prettier way?

How does the Cider version run? Any major issues with it?

I actually haven't really played far into it because I was hoping to get HDTP installed first but from the little I played it was going smoothly.

Re: HDTP on Mac OS X
Well the HDTP demo is quite small, just the Crowbar, Baton, Gunther and small things like Plants, Keypads, ATMs and whatnot so 'tisn't really worth it in this current release, but when the full release comes out I guess 'twouldst be good to know whether or not it works on Macs..
Well I use Windows like 95% of all other gamers so I can not help much, but you couldst purchase the Windows version and get WinE I guess, but I am unclear as to how well that wouldst work as I have never used it because Windows does not need a Windows Emulator.

Re: HDTP on Mac OS X
The reason why I asked was because I've heard really bad things about the Cider version. To the point where I didn't even bother installing it. I've got an apple laptop (with linux and XP partitions to boot from anyway) and a custom built gaming PC so it's largely unneeded on my part. But I oringally played through Deus Ex on the mac version way back when so I am familar with getting mods to work with the mac version. If all HDTP does is replace the textures/models then it should be possible.

We could release the files without the installer I guess - for macs To be honest i'd really wait until we release the final version - the demo is so small you won't get anything out of it

Re: HDTP on Mac OS X
I don't mind waiting then, I'm pretty new to this so I didn't realize it was just a demo out. Thanks for the replies

Re: HDTP on Mac OS X
If you download the installer, you can open the package up using 7zip ( http://www.7-zip.org/download.html). From there, you can extract the files and do your manual work, a step-by-step guide would surely be appreciated I think

Re: HDTP on Mac OS X
Unfortunately thats not possible from within OS X. No uncompressing program that I've tried on OS X will successfully extract files from .exes. I don't know why because that works well enough on windows. The p7zip packages for OS X are pretty suck anyway. I'd suggest The Unarchiver: http://wakaba.c3.cx/s/apps/unarchiver.htmlfor extracting stuff in OS X. Out of the kindness of my heart I've hosted the extracted HDTP files here:
