Post Should Animations be modified to look more real?
I think we have all been in combat before and we all know how the NPCs look when there attacking us.

They look Bad the Animations where simpule and not much time was put into them. What I am proposing is a Change in the Animations to make them look more Real to Life. We are talking about Trained Professionals, and Trained Professionals don't wake like that, Shot like That or even aked like that. (but thats out of the Soup of this mod) What would be nice too see is a new look for the Animations of the NPC's. The new NPCs should Keep the Stock of the Gun on there Shoulders at all times. When there not aiming at anything they point the gun tord the ground, with the stock still on there Shoulders. Also they would Bend there Legs and there Back to keep there head down. Among other things. It would look a lot Better

The other side to this is that it might take away form the feel of the origrnal game. If might prove too ricky and the mod isent realy here to change things. Also It might look good but useing the same AI wouldent work. It would look good at first but in combat you would have the same problem this idea is trying to fix maybe even worse.

The Best Idea is probaly to make a sepreat mod that Upgrades the AI and the Animations. But this wouldent be done by the HDTP team so it may never happen.

I'd have to say no, first of all I don't think it's in the scope of HDTextureP.

Secondly, I don't think realistic animations would add anything to the DX Universe. As long as the animations are smooth, I'm not complaining.

I brought this up about a year ago and Phas said that it was very plausable to make the Animations more realistic - aka, while moving they hold the gun down, rather than stupidly hold it gangster style.

While EER has a point... I have to say that with all the other non-texture work we've done, -including- brand new character animations... It shouldn't be far from us to consider making the -brand new- character animations into -better- brand new character animations.

Someone should assemble a team to do what dead-eye had recommended. It wouldn't take away the original feel of the game, that's bullshit. The truth is, whether you guys want to face it or not, the dumb AI caused a numbing feeling that took away from the game. Sort of like this for example:

Ex. 1: Your hiding under the desk in the La Guardia private terminal. Your waiting for the 3 NSF troops to burst into the room and look for you. They never come. Instead, one runs around in circles to see if you will magically appear, one runs from side to side, and the other crouches down in the gun stance in another room (WITH THE DOOR CLOSED) and waits for you to be as stupid as he is. After 5 minutes, you finally say: "Ah fuck, they're wasting my fucking time on this ambush I had set up, god dammit" and leave the room and kill them the regular way.

Oh, and the animations are too bad.

P.S. Anyone seen my smoke bombs?

So really your issue is with the AI, more than the animations?

And you do realise that changing the animations would make absolutely no difference to the AI? And that changing the AI would be an absolute nightmare (not to mention being out of the scope of this project)?

Yes So now I'm coming to the concluson that this is realy a job for DX:R. They won't to make these kinds of add-ons they just don't have the time.

But if you made the animations look good they can make the AI good. Inless you guys are on bad terms with the DX:R team or something?

The animations that do need changing:

Dance: In male GM meshes they just spin around. Thats not dancing!

Most animations are good as they are.

Thought: Maybe if an NPC gets their arm so badly injured (or chest) that they have to hold the other arm (like you do if you get shot or bleed bad from the top of your arm) e.g. get shot in left arm and its at 10% or less heath, the NPC holds it with other arm, only if they appear too injured to fight.

yes, do that as well.

Also if NPC or player gets legs shot (off) so that they are at 0% health, there should be a different texture for this, a more realistic one and AI (Rather than in third person th e player looks crouched. ,but then the player or NPC could not walk as it would look stuipd if they did...
