Well I look forward to seeing the mod in a year or two. I just need to figure out modding myself and make a real looking sawn off shotgun to replace the high resolution version of the original one. ^^

Well my dear - obviously you can do a far better job so let me tell you, why don't you model and texture a weapon for us? The gauntlet is laid down.

Also, let's be honest: the original experimental MJ12 plasma rifle looked nothing like a real experimental MJ12 plasma rifle.
I mean, god: it's like the designers hardly even tried...

Lets not have that argument again.. Remember what happened last time?
No nobody in the community wants this to happen, If Deus Ex 3 flops that essentially fucks up any chance of them giving us a new.. hopefully BETTER engine to mod with. If anything we all hope it succeeds because then it won't keep us stuck working with just Unreal, so it gives the community some choices - and we like choices.
Also if anything we want all of the community projects to exploit the hype being generated by Deus Ex 3, because that gives everyone a boost, it creates a frenzy- I hope Eidos understands that (if they don't they are fucking stupid!).

No, but I remember what happened when we had the same argument about the AR

That one was worse.. though I'd put that around the same as the Gunther and JC fights we had too. But AR will always be the worst.

*sigh*
I wish the otp tongue-out smiley was a bit more obvious..it makes it harder to convey dismissive sarcasm.
My point was that
"complaining that the high def versions of the DX weapons look like high def versions of the DX weapons, rather than 'real' weapons"
is a wee bit stupid.
A) because that's not what we're trying to do, and
B) because these are guns from 44 years in the fucking future.
Plasma rifles do not exist (yet). Dynamically forged non-eutactic blade weapons that glow blue certainly do not exist (yet..or ever). And finally, shotguns that are classed as 'sawed off' are currently something you have bought and SAWED YOURSELF, rather than coming as 'sawed off' straight from the shelf.

I think we should make all the weapons from WWII and be done with it!

I don't think he was complaining, I think he was just saying that he thought it'd be cool to try playing DX with a more present-day-ish shotgun model, and that he wouldn't mind trying to do it himself.

Well, it came across as an incredibly back-handed compliment (as you might have noticed).
I mean, I can't wait till TNM comes out and I can export all your code, then recode it to be basically the same only, like..actually good*. Y'know?
*this is a lie. I don't care when TNM comes out.**
**Ok, that was a lie, too.

I do agree with Jonas, I think it was just something he wanted to do for his own personal enjoyment, more than not liking the hdtp model.

Yeah I see what you mean DDL, but I think what we've got here is... failure to communicate.

"in a year or two" was a bit catty too, mind you.

True, that was uncalled for.
