Post widescreen resolution problem
Hello guys,
I have a problem and I think there are many of you who find it trivial to solve. I simply want to play Deus Ex 1 again, and since i have LCD with native resolution 1680x1050, it would be nice to be able to play it in this one (hope fonts won't be too small). I tried new OpenGL renderer, new DX 8, DX 9 renderers but none of them was able to set this resolution properly.
What i mean is that this resolution is set according to LCD display status, but graphics looks like 640x480 using SW rendering. I select it as a rendering device (although it is not in list of supported ones - there is only standard DX and SW rendering). I have ATI radeon 1950 pro with fairly new drivers, XP SP2 etc.
I tried some .ini modifications suggested on this forum but results were same - resolution set, but graphics looks terrible.
Any suggestions what might be wrong?

Find OTP UI Fix in the in the Download section menu at the front page of TNM. It a custom fix from these guys, or a guy.
Since I made sure where it was here it is anyway =D:

It should make a difference. Just follow the instructions.

I applied it but i didn't notice at 1280x1024.. Maybe I'm blind or my pc is fucked up

I definitely did notice, not using it equals looking at extremely large user interface objects.

Yep, definitely grab the fix! I have the same resolution and it works wonderfully :-D

The only thing is that you'll have to restart the game after you change the resolution, or the menu will be in an odd position.

That's the idea. Without the fix, your GUI will be hugely out of proportion when you set the game to 1280x1024. With the fix, it scales back down to its normal size.

The GUI fix is excellent, but there's just 1 minor, annoying thing. On the main title screen with the spinning logo, the 'Deus Ex' text is only half visible for some reason.

I don't get that.

Make sure you don't go into the Display menu after you've applied the resolution fix, that will probably mess things up for you. Try checking your ini to see if the resolution settings are still right.

In the ini it says 'Resolution=Default'. I guess that's not right.

You should follow the instructions in the readme. Find these two settings in DeusEx.ini and set them to the desired values:

FullscreenViewportX=1024
FullscreenViewportY=768

They're already at the right values (1440x900)

Edit: ^ Disregard that.
I changed them to 1680 x 1050, but it hasn't made any difference and I still can't see the logo.

Wow thanks I was getting really mad a few weeks ago because I could find no way to get the game t look right in 1280x1024. This probably should have a sticky in the Deusex general along with a link to the updated open gl drivers...
