Have you tried this new Direct3D-10 Renderer for Vista/Win 7 ? Only for DX-10 compatible video cards. http://kentie.net/article/d3d10drv/Looks interesting.. I am re downloading TNM now that I have some time, (need to do a second playthrough) and I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I am going to try this out.

Good luck. I tried a couple of days ago and got some U engine error. I got D3D9 running not D3D10 though. According to dxdiag I have DirectX 11 installed. Windows 7 is my OS. Edit: It's a D3D failed to initialize error. It still won't run but D3D9 and OpenGL both do. FTW.

Far as I know, DirectX 11 does exist as a technicial preview with some features and its available for Windows 7 and it has: DirectWrite provides support for high-quality text rendering, resolution-independent outline fonts, and full Unicode text and layout support, and much, much more. Direct2D is a hardware-accelerated, immediate-mode, 2-D graphics API that provides high performance and high quality rendering for 2-D geometry, bitmaps, and text. The Direct2D API is designed to interoperate well with Direct3D and GDI. This technical preview allows developers to evaluate the API and write simple applications, with some of the more advanced functionality possible on properly configured machines. I posted about D3D10 on here a long time ago. That with New Vision installed, its very good IMO. I have windows 7 Professional 32-bit and its quite good on it, its better than OpenGL render anyway. If you look at Project 2027, it has this on it and it looks very good.

That's good, however when D3D 10 support option is highlighted in the renderer option, I click on that then click run, but nada.

See my post here: http://offtopicproductions.com/forum/vi ... 47&p=59985 and BTW, try another version if one does not work. Also you may need something that WIndows 7 lacks to run the DX10. Also to help, could you post exactly how you installed the DX10 render? You might have done something wrong or missed something.

You also forget your graphics card need to support it.
Not all can run DX11 effects (yes, there is hardware DX and software DX... just to make it easy. And no, DX isn't Deus Ex in here).

From WinZip I extracted the files to the Deus Ex system folder. I did the other suggestions from the site but D3D10 won't run. My video card is a Ge Force GT230 and they "say" it supports DirectX 10. I'm starting to doubt that as D3D9 runs fine.

That's what nvidia says about the GT230M. So, yeah, it should be enough.

Thanks for your attempt at help guys. I'm getting cranky (again) with this so it can go into the too annoying to continue with basket.

It's fully available, it's running on a few games so far. Stalker: Call of Pripyat runs on DX11, but most are still yet-to-be-released. Doesn't help that only ATI have cards for it at the moment.

Did you add this line to DeusEx.ini? and this under Engine.Engine, GameRendering Device? Also is your Graphics card DirectX 10 compatible? If not this could be why Sucks, I'd prefer Nvidia, well it did have DX10 first. I currently have a nvidia geforce 9800 gtx 1gb and its quite good IMO So did windows 7 come with DirectX 11? I have it as well and I can still run D3D10 and its not the cause of the problem your having.

Morpheus thanks, my card says it supports DirectX10 but even with those added lines I still get D3D failed to initialize. I positively give up trying now.

Metro 2033 does look quite cool, although strikingly similar to Stalker in so many ways (and both studios are Ukranian ). Don't know quite what it is about Eastern Europe/Russia, but they do have some cool sci-fi writers.

I can't really say this is true, but didn't one the Stalker writers join the Metro 2033 team?
